
Excel Nearshore is seeking a Workday Functional Lead – Time & Absence to support a leading global organization in the design, configuration, and optimization of workforce management solutions. This role will focus on leading initiatives related to Workday Time Tracking and Absence Management, ensuring scalable, compliant, and efficient processes across diverse employee populations and regions.
You will act as a subject matter expert, partnering with HR and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective system configurations, while also driving improvements in time-off programs, leave management, and overall workforce operations. This position requires a strong balance of functional expertise, problem-solving, and hands-on configuration experience within Workday.
This is a fully remote and full-time position from Costa Rica, in payroll with benefits.
- Lead the design, configuration, and ongoing optimization of Workday Time Tracking and Absence modules, with a strong focus on Time Off Plans and Leave of Absence programs.
- Partner with HR and business stakeholders to gather, interpret, and translate requirements into effective system configurations, ensuring alignment with business policies and regulatory needs.
- Configure and maintain Holiday Calendars, accrual schedules, eligibility rules, and leave programs, ensuring accuracy and scalability across regions and employee populations.
- Provide expert guidance on best practices, design alternatives, and process improvements related to time and absence management.
- Support end-to-end implementation activities, including configuration, testing (SIT/UAT), deployment, and post-go-live support.
Additional responsibilities
- Configure and maintain Core HCM, with working knowledge of related modules such as Compensation, Recruiting, and Security.
- Develop and support integrations using EIB (inbound/outbound), Core Connectors, and basic Workday Studio capabilities.
- Design and deliver advanced reporting and analytics, including calculated fields, dashboards, and composite reports to support workforce insights.
- Configure complex business processes with condition rules, validations, notifications, and approval workflows.
- Maintain and optimize Workday Security, including Role-Based, Domain, and Business Process Security policies.
- Support Workday release management (R1/R2), including regression testing and feature adoption.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, IT, and external vendors to ensure seamless delivery of solutions.
