Quality Assurance Engineer
Description

Excel Nearshore is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join a leading services U.S.-based company. In this role, you will be responsible for validating applications, integrations, and system enhancements through comprehensive manual testing while supporting the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, analysts, and infrastructure teams to ensure high-quality software releases, maintain accurate project documentation, and coordinate successful deployments. This is a fully remote and full-time position from Costa Rica, in payroll with benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Perform manual testing for applications, system integrations, data feeds, and software enhancements.
  • Create, execute, and maintain test cases, test plans, and test results using Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Identify, document, track, and retest software defects through successful resolution.
  • Review business and functional requirements and develop comprehensive test scenarios.
  • Support all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including intake, requirements analysis, testing, deployment, and production validation.
  • Manage and maintain Azure DevOps work items, including user stories, tasks, defects, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate software releases, production deployments, and post-deployment validation activities.
  • Collaborate with business users, business analysts, developers, vendors, and infrastructure teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, testing evidence, implementation records, and release documentation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes and documentation practices.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in manual software testing within Agile or Waterfall software development environments.
  • Strong experience creating and executing test cases, test plans, and documenting testing results.
  • Experience testing web applications, system integrations, APIs, data feeds, and enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) for managing test cases, user stories, tasks, defects, and project tracking.
  • Experience with defect lifecycle management, including defect reporting, tracking, and validation.
  • Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and software release processes.
  • Experience coordinating software releases, production deployments, and post-implementation validation activities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios.
  • Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, developers, analysts, vendors, and infrastructure teams.
  • Experience using AI agents (LLM-based tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or similar) to improve QA workflows, including test case generation, documentation, defect analysis, and productivity.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques and AI-assisted software testing practices is highly desirable.
