QA Automation Engineer (SDET)
Description
Excel Nearshore is looking for experienced Mid-Level and Senior QA Engineers or SDETs who are passionate about delivering high-quality software through strong automation practices. You'll be part of a collaborative and fast-paced environment, working closely with developers, product owners, and DevOps to ensure the reliability and performance of our client’s platforms. This is a fully remote and full-time position from Costa Rica, in payroll with benefits.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for backend systems, focusing on API testing and database validation.
- Leverage Python to build robust, scalable automation solutions using Pytest and other relevant frameworks.
- Work with JSON objects, lists, dictionaries, and other data structures for API response validation.
- Validate data integrity across SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, or Document DB).
- Use tools like Postman and PyCharm for developing and debugging tests.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define testing strategies and ensure high test coverage.
- Follow best practices using Git for version control and maintain clean, readable, and reusable test code.
- Participate in code reviews, standups, and sprint planning.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a QA Automation Engineer or SDET.
- Proven experience in backend test automation using Python.
- Strong knowledge of API testing, RESTful services, and data validation techniques
- Proficiency in Pytest, or similar testing frameworks
- Comfortable working with databases and writing complex SQL queries
- Familiarity with version control tools (Git) and development tools like PyCharm
- Solid understanding of working with JSON and handling structured/unstructured data
- Experience using Postman or similar tools for manual and automated API testing
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently as well as mentor junior team members (for senior roles).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD integration and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Background in performance or security testing is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
