Microsoft System Administrator
Description

Excel Nearshore is seeking an experienced Microsoft System Administrator to work for a large ed-tech client in a full-time and fully remote position.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure:

  • Proactively monitors and remediates all IT Infrastructure devices and applications
  • Proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve system performance and reliability
  • Prepares for emergencies by discovering and proposing remediation plans for single-point failure
  • Supports and manages on-premises Linux, Windows servers and storage infrastructure

M365:

  • Provide leadership in establishing robust M365 service administration protocols, and they will work with their colleagues in identifying, documenting, and supporting our business use cases for our evolving, core device-top services
  • Administers the Firm's M365 collaboration tools, including SharePoint Online, MS Teams, OneNote, etc.
  • Provisions sites and accounts, and oversees management of the provisioning process, using any tools provided to facilitate the process
  • Works closely with the Security team, prioritizing safety of the firm's systems and content
  • Identifies potential points of integration between M365 services on the core device-top and works with technical colleagues to deliver key integrations
  • Promotes use of the data available via the Microsoft admin portal to identify areas of untapped benefit, and to foster our continuing path towards a data-driven organization
  • Provides level three support for functional requests relating to M365 collaboration services
  • Continually evaluates opportunities to improve our people's experience of technology, preferably in a scalable way
  • Mentors members of the Infrastructure team on architectural, engineering and operational best practices related to Active Directory

Microsoft Purview:

  • Implement, configure, and manage Microsoft Purview to support data governance, compliance, and management across the enterprise.
  • Work closely with IT security, compliance teams, and business stakeholders to define and implement data governance policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage data classification, data loss prevention (DLP), and information protection policies within Microsoft Purview.
  • Ensure the integration of Microsoft Purview with other Microsoft services and third-party applications to enhance data governance and compliance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on Microsoft Purview to internal teams, including training and documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Microsoft Purview features and updates, and recommend improvements to our data governance strategy.
  • Conduct regular audits and reports on data governance, compliance status, and system performance.
  • Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to respond to and mitigate any data governance-related incidents.

These would be optional depending on what we do with AD:

  • Design, Install, configure, manage Active Directory (AD), including both on prem and integration with Azure AD
  • Establishes standards, policies & guidelines for Active Directory in collaboration with service line owner, information security, and technology teams
  • Develop, Configure, and support active directory solutions that meet business needs and align with technology standards.
