Senior Front-End Engineer
Description

Excel Nearshore is seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer to join a leading U.S.-based company in the digital legal services and online marketing industry. In this role, you will design, develop, and support public-facing and internal web applications, contributing to user experience, performance, accessibility, and SEO. Working as part of an Agile engineering team, you will help deliver high-quality software while leveraging modern front-end technologies and AI-assisted development practices. This is a fully remote and full-time position from Costa Rica, in payroll with benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement customer-facing features using Angular, React, and TypeScript that meet performance, accessibility (a11y), and SEO goals.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical solutions and estimates.
  • Develop clean, testable code while contributing to a component-driven design system.
  • Contribute to application architecture and non-functional requirements, including scalability, security, and observability.
  • Improve application performance by optimizing site speed, rendering strategies, caching, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and the full software delivery lifecycle.
  • Provide production support and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional front-end development experience or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience building production applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong experience with modern front-end tooling, including bundlers (Webpack, Vite, Gulp), state management, component libraries, and design systems.
  • Proven experience delivering and maintaining production features throughout their lifecycle.
  • Experience using AI development tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot to accelerate front-end development, including code generation, component development, and performance optimization.
  • Ability to mentor engineers on effective AI adoption and development best practices.
  • Experience embedding generative AI features directly into user-facing applications, such as intelligent interfaces, dynamic content generation, and LLM-powered experiences.
  • Experience writing automated tests using Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or similar frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of web performance optimization, SEO fundamentals, and accessibility best practices.
  • Familiarity with secure development practices and basic security testing concepts.
  • Experience working within Agile development teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and prompt engineering best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with server-side rendering / hybrid frameworks (Next.js) and edge caching strategies.
  • Experience with GraphQL, Node.js, or CMS integrations.
  • Experience optimizing large-scale websites for SEO and high traffic.
