Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
Description

Excel Nearshore is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a leading U.S.-based company in the digital health, online information, and technology services industry. In this role, you will lead and mentor distributed quality engineering teams, coordinate testing initiatives across multiple projects, and design, document, execute, and automate tests that ensure the quality, stability, and performance of web-based products. This is a fully remote and full-time position from Costa Rica, in payroll with benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Guide and mentor internationally distributed Quality Engineering teams.
  • Coordinate multiple testing initiatives in partnership with project managers and key stakeholders.
  • Design, document, execute, and automate test cases for a variety of software products.
  • Ensure the stability, quality, and successful operation of web-based applications and platforms.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, software development, and project management activities within Agile environments.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in software development within Agile quality organizations and/or project management.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to Agile quality processes.
  • Experience delivering SaaS platforms, modern JavaScript applications, or other web-based products.
  • Strong understanding of web browsers, servers, APIs, application security, and performance.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD practices.
  • Hands-on experience using AI agents (LLM-based tools, autonomous testing agents, etc.) to improve software testing workflows, including test case generation, defect triage, and regression analysis.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques and AI agent workflows to build intelligent test harnesses for APIs, user interfaces, and backend systems.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing AI-powered testing platforms or frameworks to improve test coverage and reduce manual testing effort.
  • Experience designing or contributing to AI-enabled testing pipelines integrated into CI/CD processes.
  • Proficiency coding in a modern development language.
